Today around noon we motored the few miles from Mulatupu to Isla Pino. For this island, our cruising guide recommends to anchor at a depth of only 2.5 meters, which is way too shallow for our taste (that would leave about 30 cm under the keel). So we aimed at a spot further offshore where it is supposed to have at least 4 meters. However, approaching that spot we encountered 3 meters and less. Letting nasty rocks get so close to Pitufa’s belly took us a lot of willpower and strained our nerves… Now we are anchored at 2.7 m, but snorkeling around convinced us there are no reefs around and the anchor is well dug in and we hope to have a quiet night. Last night we had two strong thunderstorms and in a tight anchorage that means getting up, turning on the GPS, keeping watch on wind and position and being ready for an emergency manoever.

Heute Mittag sind wir einige Meilen weiter von Mulatupu nach Isla Pino motort. Unser Cruising Guide empfiehlt einen Ankerplatz auf nur 2,5 m, was fuer unseren Geschmack viel zu seicht ist (das liesse nur 30 cm unterm Kiel…). Wir wollten also weiter draussen auf 4 m ankern. Dummerweise stimmt die Karte nicht genau und wir hatten auch weit draussen schon 3 m und weniger Tiefenanzeige. Boese Felsen so nah an Pitufa’s Bauchi heranzulassen kostet uns einiges an Ueberwindung und strapaziert das Nervenkostuem.. Jetzt liegt der Anker auf 2,7 m, aber beim Schnorcheln konnten wir uns ueberzeugen, dass keine Riffe in der Naehe lauern, der Anker ist gut eingegraben und wir hoffen auf eine ruhige Nacht, letzte Nacht hatten wir naemlich gleich 2 starke Gewitter und das bedeutet in einer engen Ankerbucht aufstehen, GPS einschalten, Wind und Position beobachten und bereit sein fuer ein Notfallsmanoever.
