/30: The calm and sunny conditions were ideal, so we hopped into the water almost every day.
/30: Outside the pass at the drop-off we were surprised to find huge swarms of big fish.
/30: Young barracudas curiously circled us.
/30: And then a grown-up came by, too.
/30: A few white-tip reef sharks live there as well.
/30: Inside the pass and all around it, the coral is wonderfully healthy and tons of little fish hover over it.
/30: A dark parrot fish species was spawning as we snorkeled the pass.
/30: Pilot fish surf the bow waves of sharks, turtles, dolphins and other big creatures...
/30: ...like snorkelers.
/30: Unfortunately the coral in other parts of the lagoon and on the eastern side is not in such a great state and gets overgrown with algae.
/30: We showed the villagers pictures and tried to explain that the coral need more fish to keep the reefs clean and healthy. There's already a committee for Tabu zones and we hope that they'll make the Tabu permanent in some areas (at the moment it's only 6 months of the year).
